Today we celebrated our wonderful principal. After 42 years in education and 17 years as a principal at Woodfield, Ms. Guelig is retiring. Students and staff participated in an assembly that showcased our love for her. We shared posters, cards, videos and songs. She will be missed!
Members of the Milwaukee Wave Soccer team visited the students in the Green Wing. The students earned the special visit because of their participation in the reading program. When visiting our school, we asked questions of the mascot and of his friend. They also read a book to us about dinosaurs playing soccer.
After Spring Break, we celebrated our recent unit on fractions. We celebrated by creating fraction fruit pizzas. We covered our personal pizzas with fractional parts of strawberries, blueberries, grapes and more. Yum! It was a fun way to end our unit.
Our school has set the expectations of Be Kind, Be Safe and Do Your Job. Each and every day, we display these behaviors in our learning and in our play. When our school works as a collaborative team with safe, kind behavior on the playground, we earn a school reward. Recently, we had fun playing team tug of war and jumping in bouncy houses!
We integrated the hype of March Madness into our literary learning. We divided into NCAA teams and worked cooperatively to complete some literary challenges that connect to basketball. Though the Championship game has already been played, we will continue with a few more March Madness challenges.
Our annual excursion to Miller Park was a success. Thanks to these wonderful parents for chaperoning--Mr. Feldman, Mr. Morrow, Mr. Werth, Mr. Fick, Mrs. Randelzhofer, Mrs. Albrant, and Mrs. Wunder. We learned about the weather, enjoyed some science exhibits and watched 5 innings of the ball game. Enjoy our slide show!
Katie, Mrs. B.'s daughter, came in and helped us make green slime on Saint Patrick's Day!
We made a chemical experiment. We mixed vinegar and baking soda and made balloons inflate!
We had a wonderful time at Discovery World. We were lucky to have the help of the wonderful parents of Josyah, Kilian, Zoe P., Jaysen, Brady and Parker. Below is a slideshow of our adventures!
